Contemporary Botanical Artist

Internationally renowned as a leading botanical artist, Fiona Strickland inspires through unrivalled technical virtuosity in the application transparent watercolour. With a passion for colour, and an extraordinary attention to detail, her paintings travel beyond pure scientific representation, and challenge perceptions of botanical art.

A Postgraduate of Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art, she was selected to study at Hospitalfield House Arbroath and awarded an Andrew Grant travelling Scholarship to Italy and France.  She has received an R.H.S. Gold Medal, the ASBA Diane Bouchier Award for Excellence in Botanical Art, multiple awards from the Society of Botanical Artists, and ‘Best in Show’ award from the American Society of Botanical Artists. She has work in the collections of Dr Shirley Sherwood O.B.E., the R.H.S Lindley Library and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation as well as numerous private collections worldwide. With paintings exhibited in New York, Pittsburgh, Masterpiece London, Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art the Royal Botanical Garden Kew, Germany, the Manggha Museum, Krakow Poland, and solo exhibitions with the Jonathan Cooper Gallery London, it is perhaps no wonder her work is highly sought after by collectors and individuals alike.
